Canesten 200mg Vaginal Tablets has a phenomenal application in the treatment of Candidal vaginitis. It contains an active ingredient called Clotrimazole, which is an antifungal drug used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts.
Clotrimazole interacts with an enzyme that converts lanosterol to ergosterol (which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes). They mainly remain the unwanted substances from entering the cells and prevent the contents of the cells from leaking out. Clotrimazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol and increases cellular permeability. In this way, Clotrimazole kills the fungi and clears up the infection.
For Candida vaginitis, a three-day treatment of Canesten 200mg is sufficient. Canesten 200mg-Vaginal tablet is inserted into the vagina on three consecutive nights. If infections recur, a six-day treatment of Canesten 200mg-Vaginal tablet should be used. A half of Canesten 200mg-Vaginal tablet should be inserted into the vagina on six consecutive nights, even if symptoms disappear. You should consult your doctor if your infection is not getting better within a week of finishing the three or six-day course of vaginal tablet.
Canesten 200mg Vaginal Tablets should be stored below 25⁰C and keep away from Children.
Some common side effects of Canesten 200mg Vaginal Tablets include nausea, diarrhea, pelvic or abdominal cramps and an increase in urinary frequency.
